Portland Help Center

Portland Help Center is an inner-city mental health clinic located in Portland, Maine. The clinic provides community based outpatient psychiatric treatment and clinical community support to financially challenged adults with serious and disabling mental illness and chemical dependency. Our multidisciplinary psychiatric service is integrated into the community along with each client’s natural supports.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team

The Assertive Community Treatment Team is a community-based team approach to service delivery that provides comprehensive psychiatric treatment, vocational and employment supports and community support/case management services. Merging the expertise of clinical and rehabilitative staff, the ACT Team assists clients with the following: symptom stability; relapse prevention; maintenance of safe, affordable housing in normative settings that promote well-being; establishment of natural support networks to combat isolation and withdrawal; and services to enable the person to function at a worksite.
