Adult Residential Services

Most of the Spurwink homes for adults are staffed by live-in Therapeutic Couples who provide consistency, structure, and predictability. Therapeutic Couples build relationships with the adults in their residence, thus providing greater opportunities for personal growth and behavioral stability.

Services are based on individual needs and interests. Residents are supported and encouraged to engage in social and recreational activities of their choice, participate in work or volunteer activities, visit with family and friends, attend church, and tend to everyday needs such as grocery shopping or banking. Varying levels of support are provided depending on the individual’s level of independence.

Each resident also receives case management services through their program supervisor. These services include: developing a relationship with the client; acting as liaison with parents, medical personnel, officials from the Department of Health and Human Services, and consultants; advocating for the individual; providing direction and supervision to staff on behalf of the individual; ensuring that individual needs are met; and overseeing planning processes.

“It has been a godsend for me to have this program. I’m incredibly lucky. I don’t think I could have Chris in a better place.”
